Alnwick Playhouse Youth Theatre at the Playhouse

An opportunity for children aged between 7 and 19 years old who want to sing, dance and act. No previous experience is necessary - just bags of enthusiasm, commitment and a sense of humour.

The Youth Theatre will run three groups this forthcoming Autumn and, once again, so that we can maximise the groups' opportunities for using the auditorium and stage area, we are holding rehearsals on Sundays. Rehearsals (unless otherwise notified) will be held at The Playhouse - mainly in the auditorium, but occasionally in the NTC Studio space.

Rehearsals will commence on:
  • Sunday 12th September 2010
  • Rehearsal times are below. Those with major roles may, on occasions, be asked to stay for a little longer.

Rehearsal times are:
  • Junior  7-9 year olds (£25), Sundays 10.45am - 11.45am
(performing 'Cinderella' on 10/11 November 2010)

The timeless fairytale meets the magic of Disney in this adaptation of the much-loved animation. Poor Cinderella is mistreated by her step-mother and step-sisters but with the help of her fairy godmother and her mice friends, she does get to the Ball. A delightful family show.

  • Middle 10 - 13 year olds (£30), Sundays 9.00am - 10.30am
(performing 'The Demon Headmaster' on 24/25 November 2010)

Based on the popular novel by Gillian Cross, this musical is fun, exciting and a little scary. The pupils of St. Campion’s School, ultra-disciplined exam machines, are devoted to their Headmaster. But something strange is going on and the worst class in the world – 6Z – are going to get to the bottom of this mystery. A cracking story with terrific songs.

  • Senior 13 - 19 year olds (£35), Sundays 12.00 - 2.00pm
(performing 'Les Misérables' on 14/15/16 December 2010)

The most loved musical of all time based on Victor Hugo’s novel, the plot follows the adventures of authority figures and revolutionaries in early Nineteenth Century France. Non-stop show-stoppers, including ‘I dreamed a dream’, ‘On my own’, ‘Do you hear the people sing?’ and ‘Empty chairs at empty tables’. This tremendous show will be one of the most anticipated in the Playhouse’s forthcoming seasonal calendar!
