Rachmaninov – Romance from String quartet no 1

Shostakovich – Piano quintet in G minor, op 57

Elgar – Piano quintet in A minor, op 84

 

The Sacconi Quartet were due to perform at Alnwick Playhouse in March 2020 but the coronavirus meant that this did not happen. They come this evening with the pianist Emma Abbate to perform two contrasting 20th century Piano quintets and a Rachmaninov romance.

The award-winning Sacconi Quartet are recognised for their unanimous and compelling ensemble, consistently communicating with a fresh and imaginative approach. Performing with style and commitment, the Quartet are known throughout the world for their creativity and integrity of interpretation.

Described as ‘an amazingly talented pianist’ by Musica, Emma Abbate works with some of the finest singers and instrumentalists of her generation. She is a Professor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and a staff coach at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

We recommend you arrive in good time to collect any tickets – the Box Office will be open for 1 hour prior to any evening events in addition to daytime opening hours.

Parking is located to the rear of the Playhouse in the public car parks. Parking discs are required to be displayed until 6pm and are available from the Visitor Information Centre located within the Playhouse building. Please check individual car park signs for any time restrictions.
