Past Projects
Creating Miniature Gardens inspired by characters, stories and our natural environment.
In 2017, two local schools participated in a project inspired by their natural enviroment culminating in a professionally curated exhibition of creative artworks here at The Playhouse.
The project was delivered by North East based artists Alison Ashton and Pippa Willits with outdoor education specialists.  This project was a partnership between Alnwick Playhouse and teachers at Barndale House Special School, Alnwick and Embleton Vincent Edwards C of E School, Embleton.
57 children took part in the project and participated in sessions led by artists both in and out of school and in their school settings with their teachers.
The exhibition presented some of the process the children went through to create their miniature gardens and a short documentary.  The finished miniature gardens are situated within the school grounds at each school along with two specially commissioned enchanting gardens by the artists involved in the project.
