Youth Theatre

Sweeney Todd Cast

The Alnwick Playhouse Youth Theatre is a long standing opportunity for young people aged 7-to 19 who are interested in singing, acting and dancing.

There is no experience required, just enthusiasm, commitment, creativity and a sense of humour!

This coming year the Youth Theatre will be making big changes! We are starting a new programme of activities spread across three terms with something different for each group per term, creating more opportunities and more diversity. We will continue to provide 10 sessions per term of 1.5 hours for Minis and 2 hours for Juniors. The Seniors project will have 16 weeks over 3 terms.

Interested in participating?
If you are interested in any of the projects we have on offer please send an email stating which activity & group and the name & date of birth of your child/children to

Summer 2017 Past Projects

Actor, Audience, Arts Award

This was a celebration of Youth Theatre, a day for young actors to engage in a diverse range of workshops led by professional artists and an opportunity to find out more about Discover Arts Award.

This event was extremely successful for the young people and for prompting Arts Award. The day revolved around learning some new practical skills: Circus Skills, Script and Accent Techniques and Physical Theatre and we had over 30 young participants!

The feeling and general buzz on the day was very positive, we then had performance opportunities to show back skills and for our Bronze Arts Award Groups which was important for the children to show what they had devised and created inspired by Heaven Eyes by David Almond.

Autumn 2017

Alice in Wonderland Disney Jnr
1st – 2nd December 2017

The production of Alice in Wonderland Disney Junior was very well received by audiences over the three productions. Hundreds of people enjoying an evening of song and laughs, as we followed Alice down the rabbit hole.
We were very proud of all the cast members aging from just 10 years old to 16 years old. This was the last production for some of out older Youth Theatre and it was a great way to say goodbye, but we also had several new faces join us to for this show and hopefully they will be back for the next production.
A big thank you to all the cast, crew and volunteers who helped make this such a great evening at the theatre!
