10th October: Beginnings – Bondgate 32

‘Now is the Winter of our Discontent

'Made glorious summer …’ Richard III Act 1 Sc 1

How do you grab the crowd?

Beginnings is an excellent ‘kick the script about' session, putting some the openings of Shakespeare’s plays into action - with perhaps some startling discoveries! Perfect if you don’t know the plays but are curious about the Shakespeare ‘thing’ and want to have a go. A great session too for writers who are keen to hone those so important first lines of any book or play.

Have fun (yes – fun!) with how to begin a good story and capture your audience in the moment.

How does Shakespeare grab the crowd in Hamlet, Twelfth Night, Henry 1V Pt 2 or As You Like It?

17th October: Say It Out Loud! – Bondgate 32

'Say It Out loud'

‘Oh for a Muse of Fire’ Henry V Act 1 Sc 1

How did they do it so well?

‘Say It Out Loud' shakes the dust off the plays as we discover the action-packed  Elizabethan actors’ scripts as they got them, hot from the writer - with no frills!

How did Shakespeare inspire instant animation in his actors? We take a look at a revealing ‘day in the life of’ theatre actors of Shakespeare's time.

Great for lovers of history, actors, teachers and drama students.

Richard 111, Macbeth, Cymbeline, Romeo and Juliet
