Three composers. One piano. An afternoon of beautiful music and the stories behind it.

In the tradition of artists such as Ludovico Einaudi, Ólafur Arnalds and Max Richter, Composer Circle celebrates the beauty and emotional power of modern piano music, bringing together three distinctive musical voices for an afternoon of evocative melodies, atmospheric soundscapes and conversation.

The second of three Composer Circle concerts at Alnwick Playhouse in 2027 welcomes two new guest composers, Aura Mae and Philip Alexander, alongside Newcastle pianist and composer Steve Luck.

Music has a way of becoming the soundtrack to our lives, capturing feelings, places and memories that words sometimes can't. Each composer brings their own musical perspective, creating pieces that can be uplifting, poignant, peaceful or quietly powerful.

Taking turns at the Playhouse's Steinway grand piano, the three composers share their music and the stories behind it in a relaxed, informal setting that brings audiences closer to the artists and their creative process.
